Refugee Help Foundation was an advertising campaign for a good cause. This was an assignment for a class, Graphic Design 3 taught by Professor Elisa Hillock at the College of Dupage.
I created a campaign for the refugees which come to America from war-zones and do not have any money or means to survive here. These refugees are already mentally and physically drained and are already dealing with emotional distress. They have lost everything they owned and have to build back from the ground up - Which is why we want to help them, by giving them all the support they need. Whether its emotional, mental or physical.
Many of these people do not even know english, which makes surviving here even harder. Which is why this foundation was created, to help these individuals - not just by creating funds to support them but also seeking mentors who can teach and polish these refugees so they can learn english and learn a skill or expertise to help them land up with a job and make it easier for them to survive.
Refugee Help Foundation not only gives financial support but also opportunities by pairing the refugees up with mentors and providing them counseling for any emotional distress they are going through.
For the logo, I traced an image of a hand rescuing a person. It fit perfectly with the core value of the foundation, which is to life up the refugees. I added a rough text, dull colors like gray and navy blue and bleed lines from the hands, to help contain the text within it.
The advertising campaign consisted of billboards, shirts, social media posts and ads on the subway and sidewalks to help raise awareness and ask people to come become a mentor.
Some tag lines for the ads were:
"Together we are stronger" - Aimed towards the community to be more accepting and welcoming towards refugees.
"Help build them back up - Become a mentor" - Aimed towards people to come and become a mentor and teach them a skill or two.
"You are loved, strong, brave" - Aimed towards the refugees to give them confidence and emotional support. To tell them we understand and are there for them.
